Simplistic Learning Academy Director
For me, a deep joy for caring for and teaching children has grown into a lifelong passion. My entire career has been rooted in supporting children and families through high-quality care and education. From working in after-school childcare as a teenager, to supporting teachers and students as a paraprofessional during college, and later leading after-school programs focused on balancing learning and fun, I have spent more than 25 years immersed in educational environments.
Over the past four years, I have served as a Curriculum Director in an early childhood setting. While this role requires wearing many hats, my favorite moments are spent on the floor with students -engaging in learning, collaborating with teachers, and discovering meaningful ways to best support all children. I have developed a deep appreciation for collaboration, working alongside educators to meet the unique and often incredible needs of every child.
I feel deeply honored to be part of a child’s day, whether that is supporting a two-year-old as they explore the world around them or celebrating a kindergartener reading their first book. I am passionate about high-quality, professional learning experiences and strongly believe that when children feel safe and supported, they are able to truly thrive. In addition, I have served as a trainer for the Department of Education in both Active Supervision and Safe With You.
It is a true privilege to be part of each student’s journey—meeting them where they are and celebrating their individual successes.
I am eager to continue learning and growing and look forward to immersing myself in Simplistic Solutions, supporting the already incredible team, and expanding my skill set to best serve this community. Along with my many years of educational experience, I am actively engaged in advanced training in dyslexia and structured literacy and am dedicated to advancing evidence-based instructional practices that align with Simplistic Learning Academy’s mission.
I am originally from Papillion, Nebraska, and have spent most of my life in the Omaha area. I graduated in 2008 from the University of Nebraska at Omaha with a Bachelor of Education and Human Sciences, with a specialization in Child and Youth Services. I spent nearly 14 years working in elementary after-school programs, collaborating closely with teachers, district personnel, and dedicated staff. I valued being part of the “big picture,” engaging in strategic planning and building programs rooted in best practices to meet the needs of students across the district.
On a personal note, I have been married to my husband, Dustin, for almost 15 years, and we have three children: Easton (11), Emersyn (9), and Emelia (4). We enjoy the outdoors, movie nights, and exploring Omaha!
I'm honored to be a part of this incredible program.
